Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC)

The U.S. Army's Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC), located at Ft. Detrick in Frederick, Maryland, explores new scientific and engineering options in medical technology, computational biology, and clinical informatics. TATRC was founded in 1998 as part of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) to investigate cutting edge medical technologies and their integration into the Department of Defense's global medical system. TATRC's core competencies include medical robotics, health information technologies, medical imaging technologies, advanced prosthetics and human performance, computational biology, biomonitoring technologies, and simulation and training technologies.

In 2008, TATRC became the second Department of Defense TELESYNERGY® site, joining Walter Reed Army Medical Center. A full TELESYNERGY® system is deployed in a demonstration hospital tent on the base.
